Hello! I'm Master Jen, an RMAA certified Kumdo examiner and instructor. Additionally Kukkiwon certified 5th Dan in TaeKwonDo and 4th Dan certified in Hapkido. My original testing for Kumdo and Hapkido took place during my first of four training trips to Seoul, South Korea with 10th Dan, Great Grand Master Moo Yong Yun. I have been teaching martial arts since 2004.

Begin your Journey

You will be training in 3 month increments and advancing from 8th Gup (belt) to 1st Gup. All colored belt testing and training can be completed online. Live training seminars are offered monthly.

For each rank, you will have access to multiple training videos. In addition, there is personalized access to the instructors. Live classes and certified, colored belt testing are included in your monthly subscription.

Become Certified

Each rank, or level you pass, will lead you closer to Black Belt certification. There are 8 colored belt levels to complete. Black Belt testing is offered, in-person, in Richmond, MN.

Is it better to train with a partner?

Yes! Kumdo is a contact sport. Although you can train on equipment, it is more accurate to train on another person. Contact us for multiple student discount rates.

When do I get to cut with a real sword?

Cutting with a Jingum (sharpened or "polished" sword) starts at Black Belt Level. If you complete the colored belt curriculum on schedule, you will be eligible to test for Black Belt and start cutting in two years.

Can anyone become a Kumdo Martial Artist?

Yes! It is for both the young and old and all skill levels. If possible, find a training partner to advance your skills even more rapidly.
